What About Theme Park Tickets?

For details on Tickets we are going to use the example that you are staying 7 days, 6 nights at WDW.

HOW MANY DAYS DO I NEED?:

You need to determine which type of family you are. Are you the type that will want to spend every minute possible in the parks? If so, you may want to go ahead and get the 6 or 7 day tickets. This will allow you to head straight to the parks after arrival and fit some rides in on departure day as well.

If you are like our family you may want to relax from travel on your first day and last day leaving you with a 5 day ticket. We also enjoy spending one entire day at the resort swimming and visiting Downtown Disney for shopping and dining! This brings our total in tickets down to just 4 days.

WHAT ABOUT ALL THE ADD-ONS?:

When you purchase your tickets Disney will ask you if you'd like to add the Park Hopper option,  Park Hopper Plus option, or both. But what exactly are these options?

Park Hopper Option (PH):

This option allows you to travel to multiple parks in the same day. This option is going to be good for a family who has been to Disney before and knows where there favorite spots are. Someone who may want to visit Epcot in the morning for extra magic hours and then head over to Hollywood Studios in the evening to catch Fantasmic! nighttime show.

However, for people on their first visit or people who don't like hopping around, the base ticket suits just fine and the park hopper add on isn't worth the extra cost.

Park Hopper Plus Option (PHP):

This option not only allows the option to park hop as discussed above, but also allows you access to the fun beyond the theme parks at Disney's two amazing water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

What's particularly nice about this option is it is completely separate from your theme park tickets. Meaning you can visit a water park without using a park ticket as the park visits are completely separate from the water park visits.

Example: Let's say you have a 5-day ticket with the Park Hopper Plus option. That means you actually have 5 days at the theme parks (with option to park hop) and 5 days at the Water parks. They do not effect one another!

HOWEVER, be aware that the park hopping option DOES NOT apply to water parks. Meaning if you visit both water parks in one day, you have used TWO water park days!!

Disney Discount Tip: If you plan to travel to Disney more than once in a year, be sure to look into to upgrading your tickets to annual passes! This can even be done at guest services while on vacation. Annual passes allow you discounts on select dining locations, merchandise, and other amenities around the Walt Disney World Resort.
